Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals Puerto Penasco Chapter

State of Sonora Required Realtor Licensing

The State of Sonora has been working with AMPI National and AMPI Puerto Penasco in a joint effort to assist agents in obtaining real estate licenses. There is a process which requires an agent to attend a 100+ hour real estate course, called the "Diplomado", then obtaining fingerprints and a background check, obtaining a "no criminal record" report, make the application to PROFECO (similar to the Better Business Bureau in the U.S.), submitting documents to prove they've complied with tax requirements, provide documentation of immigration status that agents are legal to work in Mexico, and obtaining current status in the State of Sonora real estate agent "Registry".

Click here for the Secretaria de Economia website to verify that an agent is properly registered with the State of Sonora and is licensed.
